I study labor markets, organizations, and work careers. Specifically, I focus on how labor market intermediaries – such as social networks, social capital, and technology – affect trustworthy, fair and effective employment outcomes. I have published over 50 journal articles and book chapters on these topics, including research in outlets such as the American Journal of Sociology, Social Forces, Social Networks, Social Problems, Social Science Research, and Socius. My research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Labor, the National Institutes of Health, and the American Sociological Association.
